UK Bookmaker Ladbrokes created an online test known as the ‘Test of Wits’ to see which smartphone owners had the highest mental agility. The test focused on problem solving skills, pattern recognition and code cracking.
The Test of Wits is made up of seven brainteasers designed to test problem solving skills, pattern recognition and code cracking.
Each user is asked to select their make of handset before completing the test, and a timer in the top right-hand corner records their speed.
Each question has four possible answers and a participant has to select the correct answer before moving onto the next teaser.
Example questions include: How many 9s are there between 1 and 100: a) 19 b) 20 c) 9 d) 1 e) 14.
Another is how many months have 28 days: a) 1 b) 12 c) 24 d) 10.
As it turns out, iPhone owners proved to provide the correct answers in the shortest times. BlackBerry users, on the other hand, took the longest to answer the questions provided.
The fastest test of all was completed by a Samsung owner, at just 47 seconds – halving the iPhone users’ average time – the Samsung group as a whole were in third place with an average completion time of 103 seconds.
● Apple – 94 Seconds
● Google – 99 Seconds
● Samsung – 103 Seconds
● HTC – 105 Seconds
● Nokia -109 Seconds
● BlackBerry – 118 Seconds
