Apple has invited members of the press to a special event on September 10th where it is expected to unveil the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

Following weeks of anticipation, Apple today issued invites for a September 10 press event that will finally see the grand unveiling of its latest iPhones. The Cupertino company is expected to show off both the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C, and announce a public release date for iOS 7.
The iPhone 5S will be Apple’s flagship iPhone for the next 12 months, and we expect it to come with a faster processor, improved cameras, and possibly even a fingerprint scanner embedded within its home button. We’re also likely to see new color options, with champagne/gold and graphite joining the existing black and white versions.
As for the iPhone 5C, we already know exactly what that’s going to look like thanks to all the leaks we’ve enjoyed in recent months. Internally, you can expect it to be a lot like the iPhone 5, with the same 4-inch Retina display, and possibly the same processors and cameras, too. It will be made of plastic rather than aluminum, however, which will keep its price tag down.
Some reports have also claimed that we will see new iPads at the event, but the general consensus is that these are likely to get their own event later on — possibly in October. Apple won’t want to announce too many new devices on the same day, because it’ll mean launching them around the same time as well — and not many people can afford to upgrade both their iPhone and their iPad on the same day.
Apple’s event will be held in Cupertino at the company’s headquarters, where it announced the iPhone 4S in 2011, and it will begin at 10 a.m. PST.
